The Bible views human beings as a Tripart being composed of Body, Soul and Spirit. The body is the physical, material part, while the soul is often understood to encompass the mind, will and emotions. The spirit is seen as the divine element with in, connecting us to God and enabling spiritual experiences. In this article I am going to go into more depth on what this means to us and how through understanding who we are can bring health and restoration to our whole person.
All of my life I have seen how our lives are so connected to our 5 physical senses. What we see, hear, smell, taste and feel, correlating to our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. These experiences have compounded from the time we were in our mother’s womb until this current time in our lives. My desire is to give you the best informative thoughts and information to help expose how important it is to understand all of these aspects separately and together to be able to see what is going on inside of us. To understand how all of these different aspects of who we are can affect us either positively or negatively in our Body, Soul and Spirit experience.
It all started at the very beginning of our lives unique experiences and situations we were born into, including our genetic contributions and our emotional experience that came through our parents, siblings and extended family and associations. The things we experience whether good or bad, are given to us not only genetically and associations as mentioned above, but also through healthy and unhealthy habits, how we take care of ourselves. The outcome of these experiences can cause us to feel good or bad about ourselves.
Many of us have gone through trauma, whether through the loss of a job, relationship or even the death of a loved one. All of this can have a great effect on how we view ourselves mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is depending on each individual experience and how we deal with it can then also have a great effect on our physical health outcome. But I believe that all of these things can be overcome and dealt with one issue at a time. We need to know it takes time to heal. The word Healing means recovery. It is our healing journey. I want you to know all people have had similar experiences from one end of the spectrum to another; no one has been left out. I hope this gives you a little comfort in knowing that we are not alone in this journey of understanding ourselves. Learning that we can heal, we are all on a journey of healing and wholeness.
It is important to know the Bible has a lot to say about all of this. Our Heavenly Father, who is creator of all things; who created us, made us with the ability to thrive and to heal. He made us with the ability to make choices. However He gave us some parameters to follow to have a thriving life even in the midst of change. Positive change will come as we see it all from His perspective.
I am going to share a few scriptures that will hopefully give you some insight regarding what He has to say to us in this journey. Starting from the Eden experience. Let’s see what the Bible has to say. In Genesis Chapter 2:7 NKJV And the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living being. Amplified Bible says an individual complete body and spirit. He also said it was very good. Breaking down this scripture will give us insight to not only who we are, what we are made out of. Why we were made us in this fashion for His ultimately original plan for mankind.
Starting with the Body: First of all God chose to make us from the elements we need, dust or dirt. What is dust or dirt made out of? Broken down rocks, minerals, organic matter, air and water.
Genesis 1:26 AMP Then God said, “Let us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in our likeness (not physically, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness) and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps on the earth. {Ps 104:30; Heb 1:2;11:3}
We need to address where we came from and re-introduce ourselves to the one who created us and who has put a purpose in us in this life. The Bible tells us that the one who created us desires a relationship with Him. In finding Him, He will assist us in our healing journey. This is the ultimate plan for every man and woman. God has provided everything in life for us and the wisdom to find it. This next section goes over how God has not only provided food for our bodies and herbs for our healing. These Herbs assist our bodies in our healing recovery. Remember God created our bodies to heal. He is our healer.
Scriptures on healing through the use of herbs: God has provided plants and animals from the very beginning to help us to sustain our bodies, to maintain balance through every stage of our lives. He provided herbs to assist our bodies to do what it knows best to do, heal. Here are a few scriptures about healing through herbs to give you a little background.

Herbs as a part of God’s creation: Along with God being our ultimate healer. The Bible emphasis His role in healing, not the herbs themselves, as seen in Exodus 15:26 So, ultimately it is not the spices, oils, or plants themselves that heal, but God, the Creator of both plants and the human body. While not explicitly prescribed for specific illnesses, the Bible acknowledges Gods provision of plans with medicinal properties, which humans can utilize and discern.
Mind and Emotions in Scriptures

Romans 8:5-7 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things that are above not on things that are on the earth.
We are a three part being. Body, Soul and Spirit.

So in conclusion, we have hardly gotten into the depths of all of this, but I believe I have given you just a little taste of how important it is to know the spiritual value of who we are and how God is very much involved in our ability to sustain our lives with abundant living Body, Soul and Spirit. The next few articles I would like to explore how when we get the Body, the Soul and the Spirit in right alignment with His purpose and with what He has already provided for us we can begin grow in our healing journey.
